Gustine's boys’ volleyball team faced a tough challenge in their rematch against Los Banos on March 6, seeking to avenge their previous 3-0 loss. While the Reds showed moments of brilliance and fierce competition, Los Banos ultimately secured another 3-0 victory.

The first game started with a spark as #10 Maximiliano Haro delivered the first point, followed by a powerful ace. Gustine's momentum was briefly interrupted by a missed opportunity from #8 Ernesto, allowing Los Banos to gain a point. #7 David Farias answered back with a sharp spike, pushing the score to 4-3. Another ace, this time from #3 Alexander Orozco, extended the lead to 7-3. However, a series of errors, including an out from Farias and then Haro, leveled the score at 9-9.

Farias regained the lead, pushing the score to 10-9, and a strong spike from #8 Ernesto tied it again at 11-11. Two consecutive aces from Haro gave Gustine a crucial 14-11 advantage. A unique play, where #6 Juan Aguilera kicked the ball over, allowed Los Banos to score, making it 15-12. Farias’ strong play brought the score to a tense 18-18 tie. Despite their efforts, the Reds couldn't maintain the momentum, and Los Banos took the first game 20-25.

In the second game, Farias immediately made an impact with two consecutive spikes, putting Gustine ahead 2-0. However, Los Banos quickly responded. A point from #1 Freddy Sanchez brought the score to 5-7. A powerful spike from #4 Jesus Mejia brought the score to 9-16. Another spike from #4 brought the score to 12-23. The Reds fought hard, but Los Banos' dominance prevailed, ending the second game 13-25.

The third game began with a controversial call as #13's Andrew Ruiz kick was ruled out. A strong serve from #2 Bentley Edwards put Los Banos further ahead, with the score standing at 3-14. A point scored off #2’s chest brought the score to 6-20. #5 Edgar Ramirez scored a point for the Reds, making it 7-20. Despite their determination, the Reds couldn't regain control, and Los Banos closed out the game 9-25, securing the 3-0 victory.

The Reds will look to regroup and prepare for their next challenge against Big Valley Christian at 6 p.m. on March 12 at Big Valley. The team will focus on improving their consistency and minimizing errors as they strive for success in their upcoming matches.
