Gustine High School girls' varsity soccer team's incredible performance against Stone Ridge last Wednesday was a truly dominant display of skill and teamwork that resulted in a 2-0 victory for the Reds.
The match marked the seventh straight win for the Gustine girls and their third shutout. Gustine now has a record of 7-3-1. Stone Ridge dropped to 2-5.
The game was a thrilling spectacle from start to finish. Adamaris Sierra (#3) opened the scoring with a fantastic goal, expertly assisted by the impressive Shandel Aguilera (#18). Shandel’s contributions didn't end there; she showcased her talent once again, providing the assist for Dayanara Gomez (#5) to secure the winning goal. Their synergy on the field was remarkable, and their contributions were instrumental in securing the victory.
Both of Gustine’s goals came in the first half, while the defense kept the Knights silent through both halves.
The entire team demonstrated exceptional athleticism and a cohesive game strategy throughout the match.
“I told my team it’s not going to be an easy task, easy game,” said Coach Jose Gallardo. “Why? Because we already know how Stone Ridge plays. Last year it was kind of hard. We lost to them but this year it came down to our division and good thing we took the ‘W.’ I’ve been telling the girls keep playing the way you play we’re going to be able to execute and win.”
The squad hit the road on Tuesday to take on the Waterford Wildcats (2-13) and will play at Delhi (6-4) at 5 p.m. on Thursday.
