On Tuesday GHS Girls flag football faced the Mariposa Grizzles for the first time. It started as a very close and exciting game.

Right at the beginning #21 Jacquline Chavez caught a 30-yard reception and ran it in for a Reds touchdown.

Immediately after that the Grizzlies ran it in for their touchdown making the score 6-6. To keep the streak going, the Reds had the ball and QB #15 Bethany Guinn launched a 25-yard pass to #9 Jennifer Nogues for another Reds touchdown.

The Grizzles fought back making the score at halftime 24-12 in favor of Mariposa. As the coach, going into halftime I just had to keep the team motivated.

They played at the beginning of the game with a lot of momentum but in the last few minutes of the first half when Mariposa scored again, I could see the team starting to get down on themselves. So, I just had to remind them to keep their heads up and that we still had 24 minutes to play.

After a tough fight, the Reds fell to Mariposa 60-12. #15 Bethany Guinn had 15 flag pulls, #2 Janney Loera and #21 Jacquline Chavez added three, and #7 Jimena Chavez and #16 Nayeli Nieto added two.

On Thursday, the Reds traveled to Stockton to play Aspire Langston Hughes Academy, upon arrival they were informed that the team did not show up leaving the Reds going home with a forfeited win, making the Reds league record 2-1.

The Flag football team has a bye week this week but will continue getting ready for Dos Palos on Monday.
