On Sept. 30, the lady Reds competed against Dos Palos for their first game back after a bye week. The game started out slow for both teams, but momentum started picking up.

The Reds had two first down completions in a row but came up short of the endzone. Dos Palos scored the first touchdown and from there they kept scoring leaving the score at halftime 23-0. During halftime, it was tough trying to get the team to stay positive to finish the game strong and go out and continue competing since we had 24 minutes left.

#3 Ashley Mendoza made our first touchdown and #15 Bethany Guinn added the 2-point conversion to put the score at 23-8 to end the game.

As the coach, it was good to see the team back in action, even though the game started out slow I'm glad that they were able to stop Dos Palos from scoring after halftime and make a touchdown themselves. Dos Palos isn't in our league, they were just a nonleague game during our season but it was beneficial to play them to see what we still need to work on for the rest of the season.

#15 Benethany Guinn had 9 flag pulls, #3 Ashley Mendoza and #5 Clarissa Toledo added 2 and the rest of the team added 1.

On Oct. 1, the flag football team traveled to Riverbank for another league game. Having back-to-back games is a challenge especially when flag football has a lot of physical activity the team has little time to rest their bodies before the next game.

This game was a challenge on which team was able to keep up with the speed and unfortunately, it wasn't us this game. The Reds fell 46-0 to Riverbank. I always tell the team that every game is a new game, so at practice, we have to work on what didn't work and try to implement that to make sure in the next game it does.

The Lady Reds Flag football team's next game is on Thursday, October 10th in Mariposa.
