The Orestimba Warriors baseball team broke their rough streak with a thrilling offensive showcase against Mendota last week but struggled in back-to-back losses to Hilmar, setting the stage for an important upcoming matchup against Ripon.

On Monday, the Warriors erupted for a season-high 19 runs in their matchup against the Mendota Aztecs, clinching a 19-15 victory and snapping their grueling 11-game losing streak.

Donovan Torres and Kevin Moreno led the charge at the plate, with Torres scoring two runs, stealing a base, and reaching safely in four of his six plate appearances. Moreno added crucial firepower, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, a triple, and a run—his best RBI performance since February.

Landon Marcotte also made a strong impact, scoring two runs, stealing two bases, and going 1-for-3. The offensive fireworks provided much-needed relief for the Warriors and a spark of optimism.

Unfortunately, the momentum didn’t carry over to Wednesday’s game against the Hilmar Yellowjackets. The Warriors were limited to just one run and fell 11-1, marking their fourth consecutive loss to Hilmar.

Friday’s rematch brought a similar result, as Orestimba came up short again, falling 7-3 to the Yellowjackets.

Moreno recorded a run and went 1-for-4, while Richie Rivas made his mark with his first RBI of the season. Despite the efforts, the Warriors couldn’t overcome Hilmar’s dominance, dropping their record to 3-17.

Now, Orestimba turns their attention to their upcoming game against the Ripon Indians at 4 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams head into the contest with losses in their previous outings, giving them extra motivation to come out swinging.
