The Orestimba Warriors’ softball team enjoyed a thrilling turnaround last week, securing decisive victories against Pacific Grove and Hilmar that showcased their tenacity and talent.

Starting with Friday’s clash against Pacific Grove, the Warriors seized their revenge after a heartbreaking loss to the Breakers earlier in the season. They dominated this time with an 11-2 victory, ending a difficult four-game losing streak.

Hailey Starr proved indispensable, shining both on the mound and at the plate. She pitched seven innings, striking out six batters while giving up just one earned and one unearned run on ten hits—without allowing a single walk. Starr's reliable pitching has been a hallmark all season, as she’s never given up more than two walks in a game. Adding to her standout performance, she launched two home runs and achieved a career-high three RBI while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Salece Machado contributed with two runs, a stolen base (her first this season), and perfect plate appearances, while Lexi Alves chipped in with a run and a 1-for-3 batting effort. The team delivered their season-high two home runs in this game, adding extra punch to their victory.

The momentum carried through to Thursday's showdown against Hilmar, where the Warriors cruised to a commanding 13-0 win.

Once again, Starr stole the spotlight, pitching six innings without allowing a single earned run and demonstrating her consistency on the mound. At bat, she was equally impressive, going 3-for-4 with a run scored and her first double of the season.

Sophia Machado also delivered a stellar performance, going 3-for-4, scoring twice, and setting a career-high with two doubles. Salece Machado shined yet again, with a 3-for-5 effort, a run, and another stolen base.

Orestimba kept the Yellowjackets scrambling, amassing 15 hits—their third consecutive game with at least eight hits. The win brought their record to 5-8, while Hilmar’s defeat ended their three-game home streak and pushed them to 7-8.

With inter-league matchups on the horizon, Orestimba looks ahead to a faceoff against rival Ripon at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
