Gustine boys’ volleyball

Gustine’s boys’ volleyball team was on a 12-game streak of home losses dating back to last season and Delhi a three-game streak of away losses, so someone’s luck was bound to change when the two teams met on April 8. It turned out it was Delhi that would break their streak.

The Delhi Hawks defeated the Reds in three straight matches, 25-12, 25-17 and 25-20.

Gustine has a record of 0-9.

The Reds will next play Stone Ridge Christian at Stone Ridge at 6 p.m. on April 17.

 

Orestimba track

The Orestimba girls’ track and field team earned an eighth-place finish at the Hughson Vintage Invitational on April 12, while the boys’ varsity came in 16th and the JV tied for 11th place.

Samantha De La Cruz earned a second-place finish in the 400 Meters race for Orestimba with a time of 1:02.79. Mariah Moreno finished in fifth in the same race, with a time of 1:05.00.

De La Cruz was back at in the 800 Meter race, again earning a second-place finish with a time of 2:20.87.

Orestimba’s Jordan Mello took 9th place in the women’s varsity long jump with a jump of 14’ 7.25. Mello earned a fourth-place finish in the Triple Jump with a jump of 32’ 10.25. Orestimba’s Maddie Perez came in fifth in the same event with a jump of 31’ 7.5.

For the men, Orestimba JV earned a ninth-place finish in the 400 Meter race with a time of 58.50, which was a personal record.

Sophomore Joseph Garcia scored an 8th place finish in the 1-mile varsity race with a time of 5:08.58, which was a personal record. Freshman Emmanuel Garabito had a 10th place finish in the JV race with a time of 5:23.52.

Patricio Kearny earned a second-place finish in the varsity two-mile race with a time of 9.40.1, which was a personal record. For JV, Garabito had an 8th place finish in the same race with a time of 11:23.74.

Orestimba’s Israel Ramirez scored a fifth-place finish in the men’s varsity 110 meters hurdle with a time of 16.59. Ramirez also took 8th in the 300 meters hurdle with a time of 46.97.

Orestimba’s JV 4x100 throwers relay team of Francisco Herrera, Hugo Baeza, Daniel Hererra and Ernesto Arreguin finished seventh in the event with a time of 1:01.24.

The JV 4x200 relay team of Anthony Simpson, Anthony Ramos, Christian Pacheco and Sean Nunes finished sixth with a time of 1:50.48.

Brett Gray took third in the JV long jump with a jump of 18’0”. Gray also took fourth place in the triple jump with a jump of 38’ 2”.
