Gustine girls come up short against Le Grand
Gustine lost against Le Grand back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Gustine Reds were outmatched by the Le Grand Bulldogs and fell 61-23. The Reds have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Gustine's defeat dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Le Grand, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gustine will host Stone Ridge Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Orestimba girls bested by Sonora
Orestimba lost against Sonora back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Orestimba Warriors fell just short of the Sonora Wildcats by a score of 2-1. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 692nd, while the Wildcats are ranked 312th).
Orestimba's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8-2. As for Sonora, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2-1 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Orestimba will host Ripon at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Orestimba's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end
Warrior boys tame the Sonora Wildcats
Orestimba hasn't lost a match since January 3rd, a trend which continued in their latest game on Friday. They beat the Sonora Wildcats by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 2-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 4-3 back in December of 2024.
Noel Madrigal and Omar Covarrubias scored both of Orestimba's goals, bringing their combined season tally to eight goals. Covarrubias was chosen as the player of the match by MaxPreps.
Orestimba now has a winning record of 8-7-3. As for Sonora, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Orestimba will take on Ripon at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Ripon's last three matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
