Orestimba volleyball out of playoffs
The Orestimba girls’ volleyball team were successful in their bid to win their way into the playoffs, but then lost to the second-seeded Liberty Ranch out of Galt.
The varsity team had to earn a spot in the 2024 CIF San Joaquin Girls Volleyball Playoffs Division 4 with a play-in game against Venture Academy. The game was held Monday at Orestimba and the Warriors walked away with a 3-0 win.
Orestimba attempted to advance on its 16-15 season record and were going up against the Liberty Ranch Hawks, which went in with a 31-4 record.
The Hawks proved to be too much for the Warriors, winning the three sets, 25-14, 25-16 and 25-15.
Orestimba cross country competes at TVL
The Orestimba cross country team competed at the TVL meet on Oct. 30, with the varsity boys taking fifth place.
In the junior varsity boys two-miles race, sophomore Christopher Enriquez came in 50th.
In the 5,000 meters varsity girls’ race, sophomore Samantha De La Cruz came in 4th and senior Kaelin Stevens placed 19th. She had a time of 20:59.54. Sophomore Imelda Beltran-Pelayo was 29th.
In the 5,000 meters varsity boys’ race, senior Patricio Kearney placed 2nd with a time of 16:46.49.
Sophomore Joseph Garia came in 13th and freshman Emmanuel Garrabito was 31st. Junior Hector Madrigal was 36th and junior Giovani Cerna was 41st. Sophomore Diego Mendoza was 43rd and sophomore Noel Madrigal placed 50th. Sophomore Bernardo Artea was 63rd.
As a whole, the boys’ team came in fifth.
