The Orestimba boys’ volleyball team’s return to the court on March 24 didn’t go as they hoped, as the team lost 3-0 to Ripon High School. But the Warriors bounced back and took a 3-2 win over Hilmar on Friday.
Orestimba’s overall record stands at 6-6.
In the match against Ripon, the Warriors had trouble in the first and third sets getting things going, losing 25-15 and 25-16. In the second set, Orestimba almost snatched away the win, falling 26-24 to Ripon.
Orestimba senior Matthew Flinders recorded nine kills in the match, for a kill percentage of 47.4%. Matthew Wales tallied eight kills for a kill percentage of 34.8%
Daniel Franco Rodriguez had one ace in the match.
As a team, Orestimba had a hit percentage of .250 in the match and had a kill percentage of 37.5%.
Orestimba took on Hilmar on Wednesday, winning 3-2. Orestimba won sets one, three and five (25-15, 25-12 and 15-5) while Hilmar took sets two and four (25-21 and 25-23).
Flinders led in kills for Orestimba, tallying up 20 in the match. He was followed by Wales, who had 12 and Devon Bell, who earned 10. As a team, they had a kill percentage of 48.5%.
For serving, both Flinders and Wales got two aces.
On defense, Bell and Ethan Costa each had two solo blocks.
Orestimba is playing Big Valley Grave at 6 p.m. March 31 and Ripon Christian at 6 p.m. on April 2.
